Miles Morales will soon travel across the multiverse to face off against a host of heroes like him in Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse Part Onewhich hits theaters Friday, June 2.
But before that happened, Miles first became the superhero holder in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (which aired on NOW And sky go), the animation that set the stage for the Spider-Verse franchise.
For those who don’t remember the first movie as much as they’d like, here’s everything that happened in the animation and what to expect in the sequel.
Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse recap
Into the Spider-Verse, as mentioned, follows gifted teenager Miles (Shameik Moore) who leaves home with his parents Jefferson Davis (Brian Tyree Henry) and Rio Morales (Luna Lauren Vélez) to join a new prep school. He finds it difficult but meets a mysterious girl who calls herself Gwanda. Really, her name is Gwen Stacy, but more on that later.
After a tough day at school, Miles visits his uncle Aaron Davis (Mahershala Ali) and they go to an abandoned subway station to paint some graffiti. There, Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider and thus gains the spider abilities also possessed by his universe’s Spider-Man, Peter Parker.

Miles realizes that his new abilities are the same as the masked vigilante and when he returns to the subway to investigate, he learns that, yes, he too was bitten by a radioactive spider. That’s when Peter Parker bursts through the walls with Green Goblin and the Prowler in tow.
Peter tries to stop Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, from using a collider to bring an alternate version of his wife Vanessa and son Richard into their universe, and during Spider-Man’s fight with his opponents he is pushed into the collider, causing an explosion.
Knowing that Miles is the same as him, Peter asks the teenager to help him disable the collider to which he agrees. Miles hides as Kingpin confronts Spider-Man and kills him. He promises to do as Peter asked but accidentally breaks the USB stick given to him to disable the collider.

At Peter’s grave, Miles meets Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), a much older version of Spider-Man who is struggling after breaking up with his wife MJ. After much debate, Miles convinces the new Peter to help him and teach him how to use his powers. They head to the lab where the data they need to disable the collider will be and meet Dr. Olivia Octavius (Kathryn Hahn), aka Doc Ock.
As the pair try to get away from Doc Ock, they are helped by Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) which reveals that she too is from another dimension. The trio visit Aunt May (Lily Tomlin) to create a new USB key and learn that other Spider-people have arrived in the universe: Spider-Man Noir (Nicholas Cage), Peter Porker (John Mulaney) aka Spider -Ham and Peni Parker. (Kimiko Glenn) aka SP//dr of the future.
Together they decide to dismantle Kingpin’s collider and in the process Miles learns that his uncle is Prowler. Later, the group is intercepted by Prowler and Scorpion, and when his uncle holds him in his clutches, Miles chooses to reveal himself.
Aaron hesitates when Kingpin asks him to kill Spider-Man, and because of this, the villain shoots Miles’ uncle who dies from his injuries. The group decides to take Kingpin alone and Peter holds Miles back so he can’t leave his dorm.
After his father visits him and gives an inspirational speech, Miles manages to escape his bonds by controlling his abilities and he gets a new Spider-Man suit from Peter’s house of his universe. Miles joins the group at the Collider, which Kingpin turned on and now brings multiple universes into their world.
With Miles’ help, the other Spider-people return to their respective worlds, and Miles convinces Peter to return to his world as well and make amends with his GM. Miles then confronts Kingpin alone and with his new powers, he is able to defeat him and save the day.
Miles comes to terms with his responsibilities as Spider-Man and begins to adjust to his new life, and the film ends with Gwen visiting him through a portal to another dimension where Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will begin. .
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is available to stream on sky go And NOW in the UK, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One hits cinemas and IMAX on Friday, June 2.
