Accessory maker Logitech has seemingly accidentally revealed the existence of two as yet unannounced new iPad Pro models.
Earlier this week, the product listing page for the Logitech Crayon stylus was updated to include compatibility with two new tablets: “iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation)” and “iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation). )”. Both were marked “Coming Soon” on the list.
Apple is expected to indeed release two new iPad Pro models in the near future, most likely at an event in October. But they haven’t been announced yet. The most recent Pros are the 3rd and 5th generation versions of the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, respectively, so Logitech’s list makes sense.
In addition to being accurate information revealed before it should have been, Logitech quickly changed the list to remove these new models. Perhaps Apple had the words; the company is known for both its secrecy and demanding relationships with partners.
Logitech is known to be working closely with Apple to ensure its styluses offer similar iPadOS compatibility to the Apple Pencil, and so it’s likely that the company knows exactly when the next iPads will be released. As 9to5Mac, who first reported the new information, points out, this is not the same as the usual “accessory maker reveals new product date” situation, as these companies usually speculate just like everyone else.
