The new Apple Watch Ultra comes in a new 49mm size, the largest watch in the lineup. Apple has also introduced three new bands that are being sold with the Ultra – these bands even feature prominently on the Apple Watch Ultra website.
These are pretty cool and functional straps, but are they only for Ultra? And do you really only have three bands for Ultra? What if you have a favorite band and you want Ultra – will it fit?
So many questions about watch bands and the Apple Watch Ultra and the answers aren’t obvious on the Apple website. To see an explicit compatibility explanation, you need to visit the Apple Web Store, look at the watch band, and click the “View Compatibility Details” link on the product page. Or you can just keep reading.

Which Apple bands work with the Apple Watch Ultra?
Apple Watch Ultra can be used with any of the 49mm, 45mm, and 44mm watch bands..
If you’re looking for a strap on Apple’s online store and it doesn’t show 49mm compatibility but does show 44mm or 45mm, it should work with the Ultra.
If you already have 44mm/45mm straps that you want to use with the Ultra, be aware that these are larger watches and will affect how the strap fits on your wrist. For example, bands that stretch to fit and don’t use a buckle, button, snap, or some other method of joining the ends (like the Apple Solo Loop) may not fit your wrist the way a regular Apple Watch does. But technically they are compatible.
Specifically, these watch bands work with the Apple Watch Ultra: Solo Loop, Braided Solo Loop, Sport, Nike Sport, Leather Link, Milanese Loop, Link Bracelet. Apple Watch Hermes straps will also work.
Will third party bands work with the Apple Watch Ultra?
Apple’s information about 44mm and 45mm straps suitable for Ultra is likely to refer to straps made by Apple. But third party 44mm/45mm straps should fit Ultra unless that third party has altered the fastening system in some way.
