Much of our focus over the past few weeks has been on everything Google, thanks to Google I/O and a lineup of future hardware that has just been teased for the rest of the year. However, we shouldn’t forget about Samsung as their next set of devices should also arrive in the next few months.

Over the weekend, two noteworthy insiders weighed in on the lists of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 specs. The lists are very similar with a couple of differences that may be important to some and less important to others.

The first list came from Yogesh Brarwhich believes that in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 we will get the following:

  • Inner display: 7.6″ QXGA+ AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Cover display: 6.2″ HD+ AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC
  • RAM: 12/16 GB RAM
  • Memory: 256/512 GB
  • Rear camera: 50 MP + 12 MP (UW) + 12 MP (3x)
  • Internal camera: 16MP (UD)
  • Cover camera: 10 MP
  • Software: Android 12, OneUI
  • Battery: 4400mAh, 25W charging

In one day, Ice Universe chimed in with a “100% accurate” list of Galaxy Z Fold 4 specs, which featured a few changes:

  • RAM: 12GB RAM variant only
  • Rear camera: 10MP 3x (not 12MP)
  • Internal camera: 4 MP (not 16 MP)

So, to clarify, we have an almost identical list, except for the potential for up to 16GB of RAM and a higher resolution of the internal and rear cameras. Those are pretty minor differences in my opinion, but some of you might be thinking that 16GB of RAM would make as much of a difference as 12GB. I think we would all take higher resolution cameras too.

Overall, however, these specs are too similar to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, with the exception of the chipset change to the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the main 50MP camera. The rest of the displays, memory, software and battery remain the same.

Let’s hope Samsung has shrunk the case more than we think and found a magical new hinge that wins us over. If not, then I can’t imagine this device will change my mind compared to last year’s model.
