With the release of the new Android 14 developer preview, we see Google adding a ton of new features, some of which aren’t available yet if you’re not coding savvy. I personally don’t know much about coding, but thanks Mishaal Rahman, who is actually good at coding, we found out that Google is working on emoji wallpapers. To be honest, this stupid feature got me the most excited about Android 14 DP2 and I can’t even use it. Cruel.

This feature allows users to create wallpapers using the emoji of their choice. Unlike Android 13 Oriental Egg, which can look chaotic and like a complete mess, this emoji wallpaper is clean and monochrome. Let’s be real, the turtle and clouds wallpaper highlighted above? Yes, it’s super fun.

In accordance with Mishaal, this function will allow you to choose your own smiley face, paper color and pattern. You can choose up to 14 emojis for any article, but I think fewer are better. We don’t need a bunch of emoji, do we?

The main issue at the moment is that we’re not 100% sure if Google intends to launch this wallpaper option with Android 14. It’s currently hidden behind developer flags, but from what we can tell, it seems that it almost ready to launch? Who knows what Google’s plan is for this. All I know is that I want it and so do you.
