Following his critically acclaimed thai drama Thirteen LivesRon Howard sticks to the survival subgenre for The origin of speciesand enlisted Ana De Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Brühl to star.

Based on two different accounts of the same true story, The origin of species is described as “A dark and comical story of murder and survival, which unfolds around an eclectic group of characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They all search for the answer to that ever pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life.

According to Deadline, these “eclectic characters” will be played by Oscar-nominated Ana De Armas (Blond), Jude Law, Oscar nominee (The Talented Mr. Ripley), Golden Globe nominee Daniel Brühl (Rush) and Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander (Ex-Machina).

Tetris Scribe Noah Pink penned the script, with filming set to begin in Queensland, Australia in 2023.
