In the first big bold move by the new heads of CC, james gunn and Saffron StoneDeadline has confirmed that they have put the kibosh Patty Jenkins‘ Treatment of wonder woman 3. The filmmaker had to hand in a script that we understand, and instead the new bosses were handed pieces of paper that just didn’t fit.

This all comes one day after a curious tweet from wonder woman Gal Gadot who thanks fans for playing the superhero, telling them “I can’t wait to share her next chapter with you”

It’s a clear sign that Gunn and Safran want to start fresh and clean up Warner Bros. decks. from previous DC franchises designed by Zack Snyder. And after? A complete overhaul of key DC superheroes? That said, the duo haven’t let studio insiders know what their big design is for other DC characters. This take on wonder woman 3 just wasn’t suitable at the time.

A source close to the situation told Deadline that Jenkins could very well give another version of the superhero, but it’s not clear that will happen.

There were loose talks there that talks broke down with Henry Cavill to resume Superman, despite announcing on Instagram to return before Safran and Gunn take the top job, however, there is no script, director, or green light for the next Man of Steel film. There are some Warners staffers who don’t know what Gunn and Safran’s grand design is, however, they focus squarely on the story and how the movies will interconnect with the TV series.

wonder woman 3 was quickly announced following the theatrical bombing day and date of Wonder Woman 1984. Warners held the film during the pandemic, but decided to release it in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas 2020; the first title in Jason Kilar’s WarnerMedia HBO Max dynamic window experience. While the first wonder woman in 2017 was a box office revolution for a film directed by a woman earning over $822 million, the sequel was heavily panned at 58% Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes and a B+ Cinemascore at the A of the first chapter. This despite the fact that it was chained to the box office of major LA markets and NYC cinemas closed due to Covid. Wonder Woman 1984 made under $170 million WW, with less than $47 million in the US.

Jenkins said at the first CinemaCon who returned from Covid in August 2021 that the day and date of Wonder Woman 1984 was “the best choice among a bunch of bad choices at the moment” and a “heartbreaking experience”.

“I don’t think it ever plays the same on streaming,” she said at the time, “I’m not a fan of day and date and hope to avoid it forever. “

Meanwhile, false media reports headlined that black adam was a big money loser. Deadline learned that the pic was going to be a bit in the dark, however, the photo was not the big winner that many were expecting. No word if a sequel or a Hawk Eye spin-off film will occur, despite intentions for them.
