The Marvel Cinematic Universe The sequel had a lot to deal with, from the actual passing of franchise star Chadwick Boseman to advancing the stories of countless other characters. The latest creation to celebrate wakanda foreverdirecting is Oscar-winning director Moonlight Barry Jenkinswho took for Twitter share a long thread praising the moviehis recovery from Boseman’s absence, and the cultural significance of the Namor of Tenoch Huerta.

“I never imagined that a Marvel movie would provide the space to see such a commitment in front of an audience of MILLIONS around the world; people collectively hearing the Mayan language that Diego de Landa sought to eradicate through torture and fire in contexts he could NEVER imagine. I’m pretty sure that in THIS movie Ryan Coogler frames a Mayan child standing over Diego de Landa’s prone body and, in a moment of pure sentiment, allows that child the (righteous) revenge of repaying de Landa’s burn with child-specific fire. I could NEVER imagine. For me, the Mesoamerican film in the film goes hand in hand with the mourning of the man and the character as the beating heart of the film. That they both resonate alongside the required thrill ride of super humans dodging lasers and spears is beyond impressive. I mean BEYOND.”

What is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on?

In Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverthe rulers of the Kingdom of Wakanda fight to protect their nation from invading forces in the wake of the death of King T’Challa, and a new threat emerges from the hidden underwater nation of Talokan.

The film sees the return of Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. New cast members will include Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart, Michaela Coel as Aneka, Mabel Cadena as Namora, and Alex Livinalli as Attuma.
