As previously mentioned here on OC, film distributor Kino Lorber has quietly made full art films available to stream on youtube and its own website. Last week they uploaded the documentary to YouTube, Beyond the Visible: Hilma Af Klint. This week they followed up with MC Escher: Journey to Infinitywhich they describe as follows:

MC Escher: Journey To Infinity is the story of the famous Dutch graphic designer MC Escher (1898-1972). Equal parts history, psychology and psychedelia, Robin Lutz’s entertaining and revealing portrayal shows us the man through his own words and images: diary musings, excerpts from lectures, correspondence and more are voiced by the British actor Stephen Fry, while Escher’s woodcuts, lithographs and other printed works appear in both original and playfully modified form. Two of his sons, George (92) and Jan (80), reminisce about their parents as musician Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills & Nash) talks about Escher’s rediscovery in the 1970s. looks at Escher’s legacy: homages to his work can be seen in film, in fiction, on posters, on tattoos, and elsewhere in our culture; indeed, few refined artists of the 20th century can claim such popular appeal.

You can find MC Escher: Journey to Infinity listed in our collection of Free documentariesa subset of our larger collection Over 4,000 free movies online: great classics, indies, film noir, westerns, documentaries and more.
