Critically Acclaimed Marvel Thor series has lost its greatest creative minds. Monday, artist Nicholas Klein confirmed his departure from the show, marking the end of a comic book series that began over three years ago. Klein’s departure follows that of Donny Cates‘ last year, who took an extended sabbatical from the comic world.

“Unfortunately Thor issue #31 was my last Thor issue for the foreseeable future,” Klein tweeted on Monday. “It’s been an amazing time in my comedy career, I’ve had [to] play with some of my favorite personalities and hopefully tell some great stories along the way. Thank you all for joining the race.”

Cates and Klein have teamed up on nearly every issue of the current series. Now Torrun Gronbekk has taken the reins of the series and will be working with a committee of artists on future issues.

Why did Donny Cates stop writing Pontoon?

Last November it was revealed that Cates also left Marvel’s Hulk series after introducing a significant new status quo to the character. At the time, Ryan Ottley revealed that he was writing and drawing the series. Ottley’s latest issue on the book should be coming Pontoon Number 14 is due out in April.

“No, he’s moved on. I’m going to write the rest of this arc,” Ottley tweeted in November. “There’s always a chance he’ll come back for later arcs, but I just don’t know. I miss his amazing scripts, luckily he’s created such a strong foundation that the world is so awesome to keep creating! “

Cates then confirmed the news, returning to Twitter after a long hiatus from the service: “Hey guys. I’m fine. Just needed to breathe and deal with a bunch of… life. Anyway, yeah fear not, I’ve been working with @CBCebulski @Wil_Moss and @Marvel in the background on something CRAZY that’s going to… well, you’ll know it when you see it. Love you guys! See you soon! #Excelsior”
