Margot RobbieThe latest film bombed at the box office, marking the second such flop she’s been in this year…both of which were huge ensemble numbers with top A-list talent.
Of course, we’re talking about “Babylon” – which hit theaters this holiday weekend… and only grossed a measly $3.5 million domestically through Sunday, with around 5,000,000. 3 million dollars which should arrive until Monday. Either way…that’s not a good turnout.

The film – which is about old Hollywood and the rise of “talkies” – had enormous star power attached to the credits…in addition to Margot as the lead, it also featured brad pitt, Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, Chloe Fineman, Eric Robert, Chip, Max Minghellaetc
In addition, there is the director — Damien Chazelle – who’s an Oscar winner … and with a bit of a hefty $80 million budget (and lots of marketing), there’s no telling why this one didn’t do well with moviegoers this holiday season . the mixed reviews probably didn’t help.
Interestingly, there’s another movie Margot took part in earlier this fall that had very similar vibes — another star-studded lineup (Christian Bale, robert deniro, Rami Malek, Taylor Swiftetc.) who reunited for ‘Amsterdam’… which also blazed in theatres.
It only grossed around $6.4 million in its opening weekend in October and only raised around $16 million domestically – this after an additional $80 million. spent to make it.

A tough year for Margot on the movie front – not only were things good at the box office… she also said the ‘Pirates’ movie she was attached to had been killed by Disney – although one of the franchise’s producers insisted that wasn’t quite the case.
She’s got a lot on the horizon for 2023, though – MR is already set to featured in ‘Barbie’as well as a Wes Anderson movie, “Asteroid City”, … not to mention its own prequel “Ocean’s Eleven”. The only (potential) problem… all of those will also have super stacked throws.
Good luck!
