Google wants you to know how apps use your data

This week, Google introduced a new section on app pages on Google Play, a mandatory section that developers will need to complete on how an app collects, shares, and secures user data. This new section is called Data security section.

According to Google, all developers have until July 20 to update their app pages with this information. Google Play currently lists all the permissions an app will ask for on your device, but this new section is clearly beyond that. After the update, users will be able to determine exactly what data the application retrieves and how it is used.

For the privacy advocates among us, this should be a huge win.

Again, the developers have until July 20th to update their pages with this information. Hold on, developers.
