Tamil director and producer N. Lingusamy has said he will appeal the six-month prison sentence after the Saidapet Magistrate’s Court in Chennai convicted him in an NSF check case.

In 2014, the Thirrupathi Brothers, a film production company headed by Lingusamy and his brother Subash Chandra Bose borrowed Rs. 1.3 crores for a film from PVP Capitals, a finance company. This Tamil film was titled “Enni Yezhu Naal” and planned to cast actors Karthi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The film never took off for various reasons and Thirrupathi Brothers did not return the money borrowed from the PVP capitals. Eventually, PVP filed a lawsuit against Lingusamy and Subash Chandra Bose. Madras High Court ordered Thirrupathi Brothers to repay the amount. Following the court order, Thirrupathi Brothers had agreed to reimburse. However, the check issued by director Lingusamy bounced and the PVP filed the present motion against the duo.

In his Monday evening press release, he said he felt compelled to explain himself publicly after the media trial of which he had been the victim. “The dispute is between PVP Capitals and our production house Thirrupathi Brothers Film Media Private Limited. The Honorable Court today ruled on the motion they filed. We will appeal this order and deal with the matter legally. “, reads the press release. Lingusamy made his Kollywood debut with Mammooty star ‘Aanandham’ in 2001. He has also directed several Tamil films including ‘Run’, ‘Ji’, ‘Bheema’, ‘Sandakozhi’ and ‘Paiyya’. His latest Telugu film with actors ‎Ram Pothineni and ‎Akshara Gowda ‘The Warrior’ was released a month ago.
