Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air was rumored to be a hot topic at the beginning of the year, but then the rumors died down and all eyes turned to Apple’s AR headset. But display guru Ross Young has revived the laptop rumors, and it looks like it could be ready for release very soon.
On Monday, Yang, who oversees the display supply chain, tweeted to his super followers that Apple started production of the 15-inch MacBook Air in February and ramped it up in March, leading Yang to conclude that Apple could release the laptop in late April or early May. While it doesn’t have an “exact launch date,” rumors have repeatedly suggested that the 15-inch MacBook Air could come out in April.
As you may remember, Apple announced last week that its Worldwide Developers Conference would begin with a keynote on June 5th. inch MacBook Air at WWDC, as was last year’s M2.
However, it seems more likely that Apple will release a 15-inch MacBook Air shortly before WWDC. As has happened many times over the past few months, Apple may issue a press release for a laptop without tying it to any event, especially if it is identical to the current model, except for the larger display. Essentially, its announcement will be similar to last October’s announcement of the 10th generation iPad – a product that, although new and slightly different from previous models, does not have major substantive changes that would require a presentation at the event.
Additionally, Apple is said to want the WWDC keynote to draw attention to headset rumors. While there will be a lot of Mac talk during the keynote, if Apple had introduced a new Mac at the time, it would most likely have been the Mac Pro.
