The 2023 MLB season is still a couple of months away, but YouTube TV subscribers who love the MLB network may have to start looking elsewhere. YouTube TV announced today that it has not renewed its contract with the baseball channel and will be ending it as of today.

In an email sent to subscribers, YouTube TV says that after negotiating and “working hard” to renew their contract with MLB Network, they “couldn’t come to an agreement.” MLB Network content will disappear from the streaming service starting today, January 31st. As the channel disappears, you will also lose access to any previous library entries you may have had.

Although it may not be the end yet. YouTube TV makes it clear that they are continuing to talk about moving the MLB network and this may happen in the future. If this happens, the content can also be restored.

Here is the full text of the email to YouTube TV users:

Hello Kellen,

We are working hard to renew our deal with the MLB network to continue bringing their content to YouTube TV. However, we were unable to reach an agreement and as of today, January 31, 2023, MLB Network content will no longer be available on YouTube TV. You will also lose access to any previous library entries from that channel. Members will be able to continue watching select national MLB games on FOX, ESPN, and TBS as part of our basic plan. We also provide the ability to suspend or cancel your membership at any time.

We apologize for the news and will continue to negotiate with MLB to defend you on your behalf in hopes of restoring their content to YouTube TV.

As always, thank you for being part of YouTube TV and for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,
YouTube TV Team

We’ll let you know if they can re-add the MLB network.
