Ye Kaali Kaali Anhein deserves attention due to the skillful composition of reliable veterans and talented youth, says Sukanya Verma.

When courting Shah Rukh Khan’s hit song Baazigar viewed with predatory eyes, it takes on a whole new meaning and sets the tone Ye Kaali Kaali Anheina new Netflix series about obsessive love and an equally all-consuming urge to resist it.

Baazigar, Darr, Anjaam… SRK has made quite a few films on the subject of obsession, but this is his harassment by a lustful femme fatale in Chaahatseries is my favorite.

Except Ye Kaali Kaali Ankhein has the premise of a movie, or at best a mini-series, that stretches out over a full season, turning a loose mixture of black humor and situational extremes into a sprawling, awkward mess.

Set in Onkar, a fictional small town in northern India, it opens with a hackneyed, candid voice-over in which Vikrant (Tahir Raj Bhasin) single-handedly takes on a mass of armed thugs in the middle of nowhere to a mandatory flashback. begins to explain how it all began.

Money, power, or a woman is the death knell for every man, he mutters in ornately written emotions that spew out lines such as:Humare saare armaan kaudiyon ke daam mujra kar rahe the.’

Ye Kaali Kaali Anhein in every way a drama queen.

Cursed since childhood, Vikrant regrets the day the local politician’s daughter Purva saw him. There is no context to her intense high school passion, but she is lethal in nature because a mighty voice-over predicts it.

When the adult version of Purva (Anchal Singh) returns to town a decade later, she is still crazy about the kitten while he graduated from an engineering college and found true love in college sweetheart Shiha (Shweta Tripathi Sharma).

There is something suffocating about Onkara’s overly religious air and his brutally subdued mood, dictated by the corrupt Bhartiya Suraksh party. neta Aheraj Avasti ‘Vidrohi (Saurabh Shukla) and his vile nephew Dharmesh (Surya Sharma), whose caste politics endeared them to the likes of Vikrant’s minion father (Brijendra Kala) and his obedient wife (Sunita Rajwar).

On the bizarre end of the spectrum is Vikrant’s lewd best friend, Golden (Anantvijay Joshi), who runs a porn theater.

Things go awry after Purva crooks her desire for Vikrant to her father.

Created and directed by Siddharth Sengupta, it creates a believable atmosphere and sinister build-up around Purva’s hunt and Vikrant’s clumsy lies.

That old-fashioned excuse – I like you because everyone was looking for me, but you didn’t pay any attention to me – acting like a psycho – that’s also Purva’s excuse. Except that no tamasha, no open threats. Intimidation is implied and subtly.

Retaliation comes after a series of scare tactics and a tragic turn of events that cause a simple guy to put aside his humble dreams and plot revenge on an absurd scale.

Around the seventh episode Ye Kaali Kaali Anhein starts to lose its momentum and any sense of realism it exuded due to sheer stupidity like searching for hitmen for hire online. The contrived tone and scenario that extends all the way to Ladakh never lands.

Ye Kaali Kaali Anhein wants to go into dark places and meditate on morality and despair, but lacks the grace to prove his urgency.

Where thrills should be, there are clumsy touches and a trail of loopholes he can’t hide.

Despite your stumbling tone, Ye Kaali Kaali AnheinMeaty Suffering’s is watchable for its able cast of dependable veterans and talented youth.

This is a relatively minor role, but Svetlana never fakes.

Anchal is suitably seductive and unnerving.

But it is Tahir Raj Bhasin’s enduring charisma and palpable conflict that keep us in a reckless premise.

He successfully brings out the discomfort, desperation, and wall-to-wall feelings of the average guy, coming completely out of his depths in lawless territory.
