A woman named Yesim Demir, 39, slipped and fell 100ft to her death moments after getting engaged. The woman was celebrating her engagement to her boyfriend Nizamettin Gursu at Cape Polente in northwestern Turkey when she tragically fell from a steep cliff on July 6. New York Post reported.

Mr. Gursu had just proposed to Mrs. Demir and decided to celebrate the engagement over a celebratory meal and drinks while watching the sunset. The man had returned to his car for a picnic but suddenly heard a scream, the outlet reported. The man rushed to the cliff spot and discovered that his new fiancée had fallen off the cliff.

According to media reports, Ms Demir initially survived the 100ft plunge but later succumbed to her injuries.

The grieving man later told local media that the couple chose the location because they thought it would be romantic. He said: “We chose it to have a romantic memory after the proposal. We drank alcohol. It all happened at the same time. She lost her balance and fell.”

Authorities immediately cordoned off the area and opened an investigation.

Ms Demir’s friends told local media: “It’s a place where everyone comes and watches the sunset. However, the roads are very bad and there are no precautions at the edge of the cliff. A fence should be drawn here, care should be taken.
