Latest Technology News: Windows Mail, Calendar and People Apps to attend a slow Dea

JE Technology Office: Microsoft has started notifying users that Windows Mail and Calendar apps will be removed in 2024 from the list of built-in Windows apps and that they should look forward to the new Outlook for Windows as an alternative. This can be seen as the company’s attempt to integrate AI into its products and streamline its catalog.

Developed by Microsoft for Windows 10, Windows Mail and Calendar come pre-installed in Windows, which provides the ability to add and access email accounts and schedule appointments and tasks. The company added that starting in 2024, it will pre-integrate Outlook into Windows 11.

“Starting in 2024, new Windows 11 devices will ship with the new Outlook for Windows as the free-for-all default mailbox app. The Mail and Calendar apps will continue to be available for download in the Microsoft Store until the end of 2024,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

Users can switch to the Outlook application by switching from traditional mail and calendar applications. In addition to these two items, users can try out the new Contacts app in Outlook for Windows (Preview) by enabling the “Try New Outlook” toggle on the top right of the classic Outlook app. Continue to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Once done, you can experience the new look of Outlook. However, a user should note that due to its undertested nature, the new Outlook will not be available to all users.

Free Outlook for Windows will not require a subscription and will help users write “better emails” using AI. It can also remind users of follow-up conversations. In addition to this, the app supports third-party accounts like Gmail and Yahoo to access emails. Additionally, Microsoft’s firewalls ensure that a user is safe from scams and phishing attacks. The app will also unify the view of mail and calendar events on a single destination.
