With the release of the virus Barbie trailer for the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the actor’s relationship with longtime costar Eva Mendes has once again become a topic of conversation. Mendes and Gosling have been together for over a decade, but they usually stay out of the public eye when it comes to official events. This week, Mendes shared older footage on Instagram from the film they allegedly met on, in 2011 The place Beyond the Pines.

She captioned the clips, “Magic is Real. We didn’t meet on set. The magic started long before, but here’s a little magic captured on camera.”

A fan commented on the post, saying, “Eva, I want to be honest wu, but I hope Barbie will go through awards season just to see you and Ryan. I know I’m selfish and probably a dreamer, but I’ll never stop dreaming about it!! »

But Mendes wanted to make it clear that this was a pipe dream.

She replied, “You are the best! What a cool comment; THANKS. But we don’t do these things together… Like these photos I posted, I’m only comfortable posting them because they’re already there.

She then added, “Oh wait – for those who might catch me lying – we were only on the red carpet together once while promoting this movie.”

This is indeed the only photo of them on the red carpet together, taken at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012.

In fact, the couple have been so private that it’s not even confirmed whether they’re married or not. But in November 2022, Mendes was on an episode of Today for Channel Nine in Australia when she appears to reveal that she and Gosling are legally married. When asked about how the couple and their two daughters were enjoying Australia, she replied, “Everyone is so welcoming here, and my husband Ryan is here, and we’re having the best time.”
