When a new phone drops – or in this case three new phones – we like to check the hype around them to see if you all feel it right away or hesitate for some reason. Now that the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are all official and available for pre-orders (here), we’re curious if you’re pulling out a credit card and making a claim or not.

I think it’s safe to say that the Galaxy S23 line has an upgrade or two worth talking about (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 200MP camera in Ultra, more base memory in S23+, new design in non-Ultra, etc.). but that Samsung has certainly played quite cautiously. This is not a model year where we are seeing a large scale update.

Luckily, US pricing has remained the same at $799 (S23), $999 (S23+), and $1,199 (Ultra). For the S23+, the same price also includes a starting amount of 256GB of storage, double that of the S22+. In the meantime, Samsung is offering a free upgrade to 512GB with pre-order. The dual storage deal is for all S23 devices, but the S23+ variant is a really good deal.

But is it enough to upgrade? If I had come with a Galaxy S20 (or something older), I would probably have pulled the trigger with all those promotions. Coming from the Galaxy S21, it might be time to think about it, although you still have a lot of update support left. Coming from S22? I’m not sure it’s worth switching to the Galaxy S23 at all, unless you really need the 200MP camera in the Ultra or really like the S23’s design changes. Your Galaxy S22 or Galaxy S22 Ultra is still a really new, really powerful and well maintained phone that will last a long time.

So, tell us, are you buying any of the new Galaxy S23 phones?
