“West Side Story” premiered last December and quickly reached critical acclaim. The Steven Spielberg adaptation features Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler as star-crossed lovers Tony and María; Ariana DeBose as María’s best friend, Anita; David Alvarez as Sharks leader Bernardo; and Mike Faist as Riff, the leader of the Jets. Rita Moreno, who famously portrayed Anita in the original 1961 film, appears in the remake as Valentina.

The musical love story took award season by storm. At the Golden Globes, Zegler won best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical, or comedy, and DeBose won best supporting actress in a motion picture. DeBose also won awards for the film at the 2022 Critics’ Choice and SAG Awards. “West Side Story” earned seven nominations at the 2022 Oscars, and DeBose took home the film’s only award for best actress in a supporting role — the first Afro-Latinx person and openly queer woman of color to win such an award.

Following its theatrical release, many are wondering if “West Side Story” is streaming, and the answer is yes! The movie is now available to stream on Disney+ and HBO Max. Disney+ also has the movie available in most international countries — including Taiwan and Japan. Additionally, ABC’s one-hour special “Something’s Coming: West Side Story – A Special Edition of 20/20” is now available on Disney+.
