Apple has announced that the tvOS 16.5 update has a new feature for all Apple TV 4K models: multi-view mode for the MLS Season Pass, Friday Night Baseball, and select MLS and MLB live streams. Multiview allows viewers to stream up to four games simultaneously on a single screen.
Viewers can set up multi-view by selecting games at the bottom of the screen and then choosing a layout that displays either one prominent display and up to three adjacent ones, or split screen mode. You can return to single-screen mode with one click. Apple also offers audio tweaks, such as switching home and away channels for baseball games. It’s unclear if Apple will open up this feature to third-party apps, but we may find out more at WWDC, which kicks off June 5th.
Multiview requires Apple TV 4K and tvOS 16.5. The update should install automatically, but you can install it manually by going to Settings > System > Software updates > Software update. Then click on Download and install to download the update, then click Update now install.
The MLS Season Pass is an Apple TV subscription service that costs $14.99 per month, or $99 per season, or $12.99 for $79 if you subscribe to Apple TV+. Friday Night Baseball, which streams two MB games on Friday nights with no blackout restrictions, is included with all Apple TV+ subscriptions.
