Latest Kerala Local News: Thrikkakara KV discussed issue with District Collector, says
Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi said in the Lok Sabha that Kendriya Vidyalaya’s project in Thrikkakara remains on hold as the proposed land for the project has not been deemed suitable.
It was unsuitable due to a pond in the middle of the land and lack of a proper access road, she said in response to a question from Hibi Eden MP about the undue delay in bringing the project to fruition. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has taken up the matter with the district collector, Ernakulam, to make the land suitable by filling it in and providing an access road to the site or allocating alternative land, she said. The Union government sanctioned the project in March 2019.
Mr. Eden asked if the Center had taken note of the situation where land identification, lane construction and other related responsibilities for the Kendriya Vidyalaya project in Kakkanad had not been completed by the state government. He had also requested a response on whether the Center was exploring other locations for the project given the state government’s delay in taking action.
The Ernakulam MP had earlier said the project could be launched without delay once the Departments of Revenue and Agriculture issue the necessary permits. The CMI church had agreed to provide about 20 cents near the identified site, which would allow better access to the project site, he said.
