Front Page Tech, the divisive YouTube leak show hosted by divisive leaker Jon Prosser, has released a series of render illustrations of the iPhone 14 Pro from Jan Zelbo. And they look stunning.
Technically, there are not so many surprises: in most cases, renders are not for that. It’s simple very much professional visualization of the current consensus on what the iPhone 14 Pro will look like: same wide design language as on the 13 Pro, edge style, rear camera configuration, etc., but with a hole+pill aperture instead of a notch, more thin bezels and a gorgeous new purple color.
There’s a hefty camera bump on the back of the phone, but that, too, was to be expected: Back in March, Max Weinbach told his Twitter followers that the bump would protrude at 4.17mm, the largest in Apple history. The company seems to have given up on the idea of a hidden camera. Most owners put their iPhones in a case anyway, which makes it much less of a problem.
Returning to apertures with holes and pills, one of the more intriguing renders shows what happens under the glass. The left module is for face identification, explains Prosser, and includes an infrared camera, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, and a dot projector. The front camera is located in the punch hole on the right.
It’s important, as always, to emphasize that these are rendered illustrations, or as Prosser puts it, “computer-generated images of an as-yet-unreleased phone.” These are not photographs or official images and should not be taken as 100% authentic. Although, to be honest, almost every authoritative leader and analyst agrees that the 14 Pro will look exactly like that.
It is also important to emphasize that these are renders of the iPhone 14. Pro, for the obvious reason that most of the exciting changes that will appear in the iPhone lineup this fall will affect only the Pro version. The iPhone 14 and 14 Max – or, in Prosser’s phrase, “poor people’s iPhone 14 models” – are likely to disappoint both inside and out.
