Rachel Zegler and a very, very wet red carpet

A spat of rain Tuesday in Los Angeles may have been a victory for the drought-prone city, but for the stars of the Shazam! Fury of the gods franchise, it unfolded as a perfect example of the film’s titular divine wrath. As cast and crew members united to celebrate the premiere of DC Studios’ 2019 hit sequel, the heavens also came together to bless the premiere with a soaking red carpet.

Last night Shazam! Fury of the gods premiere, held at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles, was not wet (gooey) or a few wet raindrops (glamorous, a perfect excuse for a sleek umbrella held by a handsome assistant), but absolutely drenched. A video of Deadline depicted event workers mopping up sizable puddles of water on the pasty carpet, filled with footprints from the countless dress shoes that walked across it.

Franchise stars Zachary Levi, Meagan Good, Adam Brody, Rachel Zegler, Ross Butler and more have had to deal with the…Zegler, who chose a long train for her first look, suffered the consequences in particularly visible ways. Although she plays one of the villains Daughters of Atlas in the new movie, her powers were no match for Mother Nature’s blast. “I don’t know what to do,” she lamented in a clip shared by Weekly entertainment. In another video, Butler could be seen tiptoeing around puddles in a pair of white dress shoes and socks that certainly didn’t stay that color all evening.

However, not everyone at the premiere was deterred from strutting around in the puddles. Jack Dylan Grazer and Peter Facinelli both did it Rihanna and Jay-Z proud by raising their heels and making the best of the situation. If only to say “Shazam!” could summon a few dozen hair dryers.
