If you bought a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro when you first launched it, you’ve owned it for a full 8 months. A lot has happened in the world of the Pixel 6 lineup in that time, including the introduction of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, two phones that should replace the Pixel 6 later this year. Time has made me think today about what place these phones hold in the minds of their owners and what life has been like lately with several major upgrades in their lives.

At this point, the history of the Pixel 6 line is well documented. You should be aware of the software delays, the endless coverage of bugs that Google needed to address with multiple updates, and the lengthy quarterly update confusion that created a significant wait during the winter holiday season. But everything is going well now, with no recent delays with monthly fixes, including the latest June update, which many of us have been testing for months.

I can tell you that Tim and I have been dancing between the Pixel 6 line since launch. I loved the Pixel 6, I somehow found the massive size and curved display of the Pixel 6 Pro to be quite pleasing, and I didn’t run into as many issues as some owners seem to list. For the most part, with the exception of a tethering disconnect here and there, I haven’t had any complaints about the Pixel 6 line other than size. I will never get over the idea that both phones are big as hell and that Google should have given us a small “Pro” variant.

Google seems to be happy with the Pixel 6 line too. They just told us at Google I/O that they sold more than the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 combined. As far as we can tell, Google sees the Pixel 6 as a success.

I would say things are very quiet in the Pixel 6 communities at the moment. I noticed a similar hush at the 6-month mark, but after the big June update, it seems like we’ve finally reached the point where people are doing well with their Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

Or am I reading wrong? Do people just live with bugs that never go away and are they sick of complaining about them? Do they learn to deal with unrecoverable errors? Did they switch phones and go out into the world without having to complain to Reddit?

It’s time to sign up, Pixel 6 owners. How are you today?
