When Apple stopped selling its HomePod speaker last year, fans were slow to snap up the remaining models. Models lingered on the shelves after being discontinued, and months later, white models could be found for as little as $199.
But now they have suddenly become very popular. A StockX check reveals that HomePod models that sold for less than $300 in 2021 are now selling for over $550, with a pair of sales topping $700. Sales on eBay aren’t that high, but they regularly sell for more than the original MSRP of $349.

We’re not sure why. While Apple devices tend to retain their value, this is odd for a device that has languished on shelves for years. Sure, Apple is still updating it, and it’s definitely one of the best-sounding smart speakers out there, but suddenly selling it for more than its original MSRP is definitely weird.
So if you have a HomePod that collects dust or sits on a shelf in your closet, you might want to consider selling it. You can get enough for HomePod mini and iPhone SE.
