It’s a hell of a decision to make.
In the trailer for A true love—an adaptation of the beloved 2016 romance novel by Taylor Jenkins Reidauthor of Daisy Jones and the Six And The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo—life couldn’t have gone better for Emma (Philip Soo).
After all, she and her handsome boyfriend Jesse (Luc Bracey) vacation around the world before getting down on one knee and proposing to her on a scenic beach. A stunned Emma replies, “Yes!” and just like that, the wedding is over.
However, after Jesse is forced to leave for a last-minute work trip to Alaska, Emma receives a phone call that changes everything.
“Mrs. Lerner,” said the voice on the other end, “your husband was in a helicopter that flew over the Pacific.”
Devastated, Emma eventually learns to pick herself up over time.
“At first it was so hard to let go,” Emma says in the trailer, released February 14. “I refused to admit that you were gone. But then I started to think that good days could be good weeks or good months. . I’m finally ready to live again.”
