ChatGPT took the world by storm upon its release as people realized its potential to answer questions, generate trials, hold thoughtful discussions, and automate basic tasks. The free chatbot is considered one of the most advanced AI systems available to the public, illustrating the rapid advancements in generative AI.
iPhone users were able to download the official ChatGPT iOS app. Android users had to rely on unofficial third-party apps to access ChatGPT on mobile devices.
The Android app should provide the same basic ChatGPT experience as on the web and iOS. Users will be able to have text conversations with the AI assistant by typing or speaking prompts. ChatGPT will then provide detailed answers on almost any topic in seconds. The application may also optionally incorporate specialized skills and capabilities suitable for mobile use cases.
The official Android app should also offer improved reliability and accuracy over some unofficial third-party versions. With OpenAI directly controlling the version, users can expect seamless integration between the back-end AI and the front-end mobile interface.
The generative AI revolution started by ChatGPT continues to move forward at remarkable speed. However a recent study which compared ChatGPT3.5 and ChatGPT 4 on topics such as math problems, tricky questions, computer code, and visual puzzles found that the quality had dropped in just a few months. For example, GPT-4 got much worse at math – its accuracy dropped from 97.6% to just 2.4%. He also got much worse at generating usable computer code – only 10% of his code worked compared to 52% before.
It will be interesting to see how OpenAI handles these situations, but either way, it’s fascinating to see the rate at which AI is growing in all areas of our lives.
