Upcoming Director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy star wars the saga, which should see the return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker, has lost its lead, if recent rumors are to be believed.

By Murphy’s Multiversemain actor, rumored watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, has apparently left Obaid-Chinoy star wars movie. The news comes from a segment on The Hot Mic Podcast, in which the co-hosts seem to confirm that the star wars the film’s “first leading role”, which was “of watchmen“, had withdrawn from the project.

The news follows the release of Lost co-creator and acclaimed writer Damon Lindelof, who was previously attached to the project as a co-writer alongside collaborator Justin Britt-Gibson. After Lindelof and Britt-Gibson walked away from the film, it was announced that screenwriter Steven Knight would walk in their place. Lindelof said the film was a “true labor of love” and confirmed that “the film is still in progress”, but “unfortunately not with me”. Lindelof also said he wished good luck to those who chose the project, especially Obaid-Chinoy, who he described as “an incredible director”.

Rey Skywalker returns to Star Wars

On April 15, it was announced that Daisy Ridley would return to the role of Rey Skywalker for the entry of Obaid-Chinoy in a new trilogy of star wars feature films between the “distant past” and “15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.” Obaid-Chinoy said of his entry into the series, “[It] will tell the story of the rebuilding of the New Jedi Order.” The other films, directed by Jason Mangold and Dave Filoni, are intended to explore the origins of the Force as a religious symbol in the star wars universe and tying the story threads that have run through Disney’s currently ongoing series of small screens, respectively.

About Ridley’s return to the franchise, Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, said, “It was a pretty simple phone call.” Recalling his conversation with Ridley about the prospect, Kennedy said that at the time, Lucasfilm “talked a lot about what we were doing in the movie space and I said, ‘I think we’re on the point of being ready. you like to go to [Star Wars] Party?’ It was really the beginning. She was overjoyed.”

The next of Obaid-Chinoy star wars The feature film currently has no scheduled release date.
