Apple may have announced during the WWDC keynote that the M2 MacBook Pro won’t arrive until July, but pre-orders open earlier: Apple announced that the M2 MacBook Pro will be available to order this Friday, June 17th. Here’s everything you need to know about the new laptop.
What’s new in MacBook Pro M2?
Before we talk about how to pre-order, let’s take a look at what’s new in the car. Basically it’s just the processor. Apple hasn’t changed anything in the design or features of the laptop, so if you like the current Touch Bar model, this one will just be faster. It doesn’t have MagSafe or a notch, although it will be slightly faster than a MacBook Air in some circumstances thanks to its improved cooling system.
When will the MacBook Pro M2 go on sale?
The new MacBook Pro goes on sale Friday, June 17 at 5:00 AM PT. (6:00 AM MDT, 7:00 AM CDT, and 8:00 AM EDT). In the UK, sales start at 13:00, and in Sydney, Australia – at 22:00.
How do I pre-order the new MacBook Pro?
There are a few things you can do right now to make it easier to pre-order and increase your chances of getting one in the very likely event that stocks are limited.
Step 1: Create or verify your Apple Store account now.
We recommend that you now verify the account you use to shop with Apple. You don’t want to find yourself having to enter a new credit card or alternative shipping address when you’re trying to order a new Apple product. It’s best to check now, as Apple will likely shut down the Apple Store before the product launches. Here’s how to verify your Apple Store account:
- Click this link to find a summary of your Apple account activity.
- Sign in using your password or Touch or Face ID.
- Please check that your shipping address is correct.
- Check if your current credit card is listed as a payment method.
Step 2: Save the model you want to the Apple Store app.
You can select your desired MacBook Pro configurations from the Apple Store app on your iPhone or iPad. Just go through the options and then click “Add to Saved”.
After opening a pre-order, you can quickly find it in the Saved Items section once the store is online again. To find your saved items in the Apple Store app, click the icon in the top right corner, scroll down and click Saved Items.
Step 3: Set an alarm for Friday
Especially if you are in California where you have a very early start at 5am!
Where to buy a MacBook Pro
You don’t have to buy directly from Apple. There are many Apple resellers who will gladly sell you a MacBook Pro, and some may even offer pre-order discounts. We’ll update the charts below when stores start selling the new laptop.
