A new queer horror film, Swallowedaims to tell fear seekers a story of drugs, bugs and extremes – where all is not as it seems.

Swallowedwhich will be released digitally in the UK and Ireland on April 24, is a Blue Finch film from acclaimed director Carter Smith who also worked on the 2008 natural horror, The ruins.

With American actor Jena Malone, whose credits include The ruins And Donnie DarkoMark Patton, who starred in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s RevengeCooper Koch and Jose Colon, Swallowed is an action-packed horror that will have viewers glued to the screen.

The film follows protagonists Benjamin and Dom who have been best friends since they were children.

But in an unexpected twist, viewers discover that Benjamin has been in love with Dom for almost as long as he’s known him.

As Benjamin prepares to head to Los Angeles to pursue his career, Dom hatches a plan to make a quick buck for his best friend that forces him on a risky drug run across the border.

However, the bags they swallowed in an attempt to facilitate smuggling might not have been what they thought.

The queer horror was performed at BFI Flare, FrightFest, Fantasia Film Festival and The Overlook Film Festival, where it received top ratings.

So far 2023 has been the year of horrors, and in February it was announced that dance moms star JoJo Siwa is set to star in a new Airbnb horror from the creator of Saw.

The 19-year-old YouTuber and TikTok star will channel Sidney Prescott in All my friends are deadalongside fellow Nickelodeon actress Jade Pettyjohn.
