Apple has released details on this year’s WWDC viewing event, which for the first time will include a tour of Apple Park, a series of extended developer sessions, and apparently an unmissable evening event.
Similar to WWDC 2022 and the iPhone 14 launch in September, this year’s WWDC will be a hybrid event: mostly a pre-recorded virtual presentation, but with an in-person component where select invitees gather for what is essentially a mainstream viewing party. Just as personal attendees got to experience the new iPhones and Apple Watches at the September 2022 event, attendees at WWDC 2023 will receive a number of special perks.
As reported by MacRumors, these perks will include three components never seen before: a special tour of Apple Park, an evening food and drink event, and a series of extended developer sessions.
For the tour, which takes place on the afternoon of June 5, visitors will be given a choice of two routes: “Inside the Ring” (promising incredible views and a “fascinating” exhibit at Apple Park Gallery, which was not previously open to visitors) or “Inside Meadow (covering among other things the gardens and the pond).
This evening, attendees will be treated to a “Special Evening Event” that the company says they “won’t want to miss.” Apart from the fact that food and drink will be provided, there are few details about this event.
Finally, the developer sessions will take place the day after the main presentation, in the morning, afternoon and evening. Each will be two and a half hours long and will focus on “some of the latest announcements” from the WWDC keynote. Obviously, we don’t know what they will include, but it’s likely that xrOS will be on the menu along with the usual dishes of iOS, macOS and so on.
Unfortunately, the event is limited to a small number of developers who entered the lottery and were lucky enough to win. If you did not hear from Apple by April 5, we regret to inform you that your name is not on the list and tickets are non-transferable. Instead, you will need to watch WWDC 2023 the same way we all do: online.
