Latest Kerala Local News: Sketch given by corp to KRFB kicks off – Times of India

Kochi: A sketch given by Cochin company to Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) for the widening of the Thammanam-Pullepady road has created a row. The sketch would not have the approval of the company’s board and it could lead to legal problems if the landowners move the court.

It was last year that the company officially handed over Thammanam-Pullepady Road to KRFB for widening. The KRFB, which had carried out preliminary studies for the widening of the road, found that the road needed a realignment.
When a new alignment was prepared, it was found that land already taken over by the company and the Department of Revenue would not be included in this alignment. This has drawn objection from residents and landowners, as a new round of land acquisition will be required. Following a meeting with Mayor M Anil Kumar held last month, KRFB decided to follow the alignment set for the project before 1990.

As a supporting document for the anterior alignment, the company submitted the sketch a few days ago.
The sketch the company has submitted for the MG Road-Thammanam section has the green light from the council. But the sketch of the road to Tammanam bypassing the stretch does not have the approval of the council, said the parliamentary party secretary of the UDF society, MG Aristotle.
But the mayor said the company’s board approved the sketch at the board meeting held in June 2023.
This is not the board approved sketch that was submitted to KRFB. The authorities of the company must check it and rectify the defects. Otherwise, it will create legal problems and eventually stall the project, Aristotle said.
Senior sources within the company said that the company authorities had not prepared a proper alignment for the road widening in the past two or three decades.
