Say yes to this Google Pixel 8 design

After showing off the Google Pixel 8 Pro in render form yesterday, you knew the Pixel 8 couldn’t be far behind. And here we are. The Pixel 8, also in render form, is here to show the design changes from the Pixel 7 and get us thinking about what Google can improve.

As with the Pixel 8 Pro, Google appears to be using more rounded corners on the Pixel 8. @onleaks who created the images here. The overall size of the phone might not differ much from the Pixel 7, but that roundness is evident if you look at the image above and then compare it to this Pixel 7 shot. It’s not a big adjustment, but it does look a bit bubbly or how it could be softer on hand.

There aren’t many other details in this render, but the display is assumed to weigh 6.2 inches. That’s a slight drop from the 6.3-inch display in the Pixel 7. I think there was a bug early this morning that suggested it might only be 5.8-inch, but that bug has been fixed.

On the back of the Pixel 8, we still have a metal camera bar with a dual camera setup. Google still doesn’t want to give us a Pro version of the telephoto lens and doesn’t give us that weird sensor that was on the Pixel 8 Pro renders.

The overall dimensions of the Pixel 8 are 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm. You can compare that to the 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm on the Pixel 7. I think that’s a lot smaller, even if the display isn’t the same. This is wonderful news.

Google is expected to use its Tensor 3 chip on the Pixel 8 series and possibly change the camera setup, but that’s all mostly speculation. While these designs are now out of fashion, the rest of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro story remains a mystery. I like it.

Will we see them in a teaser at Google I/O in a couple of months? Of course, why not.
