Fresh information from South Korea led us to believe that Samsung has improved the hardware and hinge system of the Galaxy Z Fold with the fifth generation model. It is reported that Galaxy Z Add 5 will be lighter, thinner, and will also feature a completely redesigned hinge that has no gaps between displays.

Specifically, the report states that the Z Fold 5 can weigh 250g, which is 13g lighter than the Z Fold 4 which weighs 263g. The Z Fold 5 is said to measure 13.4mm when folded, which is The hand can be noticeably thinner compared to the Z Fold 4 with a thickness of 14.2mm. At the very least, the thickness makes it seem like we have an updated hinge system to thank.

The report states that Samsung’s newly updated hinge that will ship with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a teardrop shape compared to the existing U-shape. This benefits users in two ways: it allows the phone to be folded, meaning there will no longer be a hinge gap between the two display panels (pictured above), and the overall design is thinner. The Z Fold lineup has always been a bit bulky, but with changes like this, we’re definitely taking steps in the right direction.

The only noteworthy information from the report states that due to the thinness of the device, Samsung does not have a place to place the S Pen, so, like all the past years, the phone will not come with a dedicated stylus slot. If you ask me, it’s good. This leaves us with more room for battery capacity.
