Latest Technology News: Samsung announces a new all-in-one Wallet app for the Galaxy phone

Leading smartphone maker Samsung launched a new all-in-one Samsung Wallet app on Monday (July 24).

The new app for Galaxy phones allows users to store all their digital credentials such as Aadhaar card, driver’s license, PAN card, vehicle registration certificates and over 1,990 documents.

Additionally, Galaxy owners can also add air tickets, train tickets, and digital movie tickets.

In addition, existing Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass (password manager) content will now be synchronized with the wallet, making it a single application for all digital transactions, identity validation and access to all travel documents.

In the future, users can link new UPI, FASTag (for passing road tolls) accounts, and users can simply add train tickets or boarding passes by scanning the QR or barcode or importing the image or PDF to Samsung Wallet.

Users can access UPI accounts, bill payments, digital IDs, travel and mobility documents, FASTag, gift cards, coupons and more with a simple swipe to open Samsung Wallet from off-screen, lock screen and home screen on their Galaxy smartphones.

The South Korean tech major noted that the Samsung India team at Bengalurus R&D Division (SRI-B) had developed the Samsung Wallet with full security features specifically for India.

The new Samsung Wallet uses several special security methods such as tokenization to secure users’ personal and financial information. Additionally, the Samsung Knox defense-grade security platform continuously monitors and protects users’ mobile devices against malware and other threats.
