Robert Downey Jr. Makes the Perfect April Fool’s Day Joke for Marvel Fans

Robert Downey Jr. had the perfect April Fool’s joke this year. In an Instagram post, he photographed a Deadline news article that he had to appear as himself in a biopic. However, he would be joined by several other Robert Downey Jr.is in the movie. (Now some Marvel fans wouldn’t want anything more for this thing to happen with his Iron Man character and a few variations.) He’s clearly having fun with the whole perspective of these press announcements in The Multiverse Saga. There have already been several returns, including Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. So, in an infinite multiverse, maybe we could one day see star him alongside her in a film. Check out the post for yourself here.

Will Downey return to the MCU as Iron Man?

Now many fans miss Iron Man. But, the question of whether or not he will return in Avengers: Secret Wars stay in the air. The actor basically said he was at peace with his new non-Marvel existence. However, Downey always carefully keeps the door open just in case during these interviews. Marvel producer Stephen Broussard told io9 that fans shouldn’t expect Iron Man to return.

“I think one of the Phase Four meta-narratives was about new characters. It was about new people coming into coats,” Broussard said in an interview with the outlet. “If you look, like, Cassie [Lang in Quantumania] get a suit and Kate Bishop [in Hawkeye]new characters are introduced like Jack in night werewolf. After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, the torches have passed, as with Robert Downey Jr. who is no longer [on the] table and stuff like that. So it was kind of like a new generation coming to the fore, which, again, has always happened in the comics.”

A few days later, poor Mark Ruffalo had to answer the question and wondered if time travel from Avengers: Endgame could actually come into play. The Hulk actor said, “It’s sad, but there is a time machine. And there are alternate universes and realities, so anything can happen.”

He laughed and looked above him: “Will one of these boards fall on me?” Man, are you still trying to get me in trouble? I’m not going to say it’s not possible, but I’m not going to say it is.”
