Razer Edge, the Razer Android gaming laptop I’d love to get on my upcoming flight, is now available for pre-order in the US with a starting price of $399. If you need 5G connectivity for the Razer Edge, the retail price is $599 and the model is sold exclusively through Verizon.

It has all the buttons and processing power you need for serious mobile gaming. The device is equipped with a custom-designed Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 gaming platform, console-class haptics, a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and 8GB of RAM. We have a complete description of the device with all its characteristics. here.

Razer originally said the device would be available on January 26th. While I believe this is technically true, Razer’s own website still lists the device as pre-order, and the devices are expected to ship on February 8th. It’s a little annoying, but hey, it’s not that far.

Here’s what potential buyers should ask themselves. Has Razer made any public commitment to improve software updates for this device? If history is an indication, Razer isn’t overly supportive of its Android devices. We look forward to more from Razer. The price also needs to be discussed. The WiFi model has plenty of specs and features to warrant $399, but the addition of 5G connectivity, adding a $200 premium, strikes me as a bit ridiculous. I don’t think it’s worth it.

I am again contacting Razer to send me a device for review. Come on, Rather!
