As is the case with most folding models, self-repair with Pixel fold can be difficult, but fixable. As we now see thanks to PBK Reviews on YouTube, even the device’s USB C port is connected to the motherboard, making replacement somewhat tricky, but not impossible. Such is life with these expensive foldable phones.

Getting into the device itself doesn’t seem very difficult, as it’s just a layer of glue holding the back. After proper heating, you will be able to remove the back cover and look inside. From here you will need a special screwdriver (Torx) to start disassembly.

PBC went ahead and gave the device a repairability score of 6.5 out of 10, which is not bad at all, but could be better if the battery was more easily accessible and if the actual repair work didn’t take so long.
