Pixel 7a could be a mid-range monster

Lately, we’ve strangely been learning quite a bit about the supposedly upcoming Pixel 7a from Google. I say strange because it’s November and the Pixel 6a was only released a few months ago. I will complain? No, not when rumors and leaks indicate that the Pixel 7a is a really good phone.

Thanks to the developer / Pixel leak Cuba Wojciechowski, there are a few things we’re pretty confident about at the moment. What we already knew (from rumors, not official confirmation from Google, which means things could change) is that the Pixel 7a could have wireless charging (a first in the series), a Samsung-made display with a 90Hz refresh rate. plus a ceramic body. What has changed is the camera department.

It was previously thought that Google would launch the Pixel 7a with a Samsung-made GN1 camera sensor on the back. This information seems to be out of date as the latest code details the use of the Sony IMX787 (Wide Angle) and IMX712 (Ultra Wide) lenses. While it may not ship with the GN1 that was introduced with the Pixel 6 line, the IMX787 is certainly a quality upgrade, especially for a device that is considered average.

Cuba also elaborates that the Pixel 7a could likely be Google’s first Tensor silicon device to include a Qualcomm WiFi 6E/Bluetooth combo chip versus a Broadcom chip (used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series), as evidenced by link to SKU WCN6740. .

We’re probably still way off any Pixel 7a launch, so with that said, things could change. Such is the nature of a leak/rumour. So far, the Pixel 7a sounds pretty sweet.
