Apple released the first iOS 16.4 beta this week with several notable new features, including the return of a new Home architecture update that was dropped in December, web push notifications, and a change in how betas are installed. But most users will only be interested in the new emoticons that will be available with the update.
After bringing a melting lip-biting face, can, beans and bubbles to iPhone last year in iOS 15.4, Apple is introducing 21 new designs and 31 variations in the upcoming update. This is the new design of the first iOS 16.4 beta:
- Heart: Blue, pink, gray
- Smiley: trembling face
- Gesture: Pushing hand right and left with 5 skin tones each
- Animals: Donkey, elk, goose, wing, jellyfish
- Nature: Hyacinth, pea pod, ginger
- Items: Folding fan, hair clip, flute, maracas
- Symbols: Handa, wireless
Since this is the first beta, the above design may change before the final version is released. As noted by Emojipedia, in previous years, Apple added cream cheese to the bagel emoji and changed the shape and angle of the peach emoji.
