Latest Technology News: Microsoft is now testing “Bing Chat” on Chrome and Sa
Microsoft Bing Chat, one of the most popular AI chatbots and a competitor to Google Bard, may soon be available on Apple’s Google Chrome and Safari browsers as the company has started testing its features. Until now, Bing Chat was only available for the Edge browser, which seems complicated for those who use other browsers but want to use the AI features.
Microsoft communications director Caitlin Roulston acknowledged the ongoing testing in a statement to The Verge. “We are giving some users access to Bing Chat in Safari and Chrome as part of our testing in other browsers,” Roulston explained. We are also excited to expand access to even more users once our standard testing procedures are complete,” the report read.
However, compared to Edge, Microsoft’s own web browser, there are some restrictions when using Bing Chat on Chrome and Safari. Users can currently only type instructions up to 2,000 words, which is half the 4,000-word limit offered on Edge, The Verge said in its report. Additionally, rather than the 30 turn limit accessible on Edge, the chatbot’s dialogue with users would restart after five turns.

Microsoft has also added a new dark mode for Bing Chat on all browsers and users can access the feature by going to the top right corner of Bing Chat, then tapping on Appearance and selecting Dark.
In the meantime, Microsoft has been actively improving the features of Bing Chat. The company only recently made multi-modal capabilities available in Bing Chat through visual search. Users can now upload photos and search the web for relevant content with this new feature, which uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 model.
The company has also added voice chat functionality for Bing Chat users. Users can simply tap the microphone icon in the Bing chat box and get most of their questions answered. Bing Chat currently supports five languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, and Mandarin.
