During a recent pit stop for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonJenna Ortega took the time to promote her opening weekend number one movie Scream VI to discuss the future of Wednesday. The actress says she wants the show to focus on less romance and more scares.

“We have just started the writers room. I think we want to ramp up the horror a bit and then come out of the romantic situation on Wednesday, let her be her own person and fight her own crimes,” Ortega says.

Ortega states that she only wants the best for the character; she adds that she is “very, very protective” of Wednesday. She recently sparked controversy when the actress claimed she changed the dialogue in some scenes without telling the writers first. many felt that she was overstepping her bounds as an actress, but the results paid off as the Netflix series was a smash hit.

Ortega currently plays in Cry VI, the latest installment in the slasher franchise. She plays alongside Melissa Barrera, Jasmine Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding. According to some rumors, she would join the long gestation Beetle Juice 2.

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester alongside a cast that also includes Gwendoline Christie, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa and Moosa Mostafa.
