Agame Thandhiram is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Y NOT Studios. The film features Dhanush, Aishwarya Lekshmi and James Cosmo in lead roles, while Joju George and Kalaiyarasan portray supporting roles. The film, which has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, began production in London during September 2019. The film’s dubbed Telugu version has been titled Jagame Tantram.

In April 2016, director Karthik Subbaraj announced that he would make a film starring Dhanush in the lead role.The gangster film was initially set in New York, and the makers unsuccessfully approached Hollywood actors Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino about playing a key role in the film during late 2016. Subbaraj later lamented that the process of reaching out to the actors was difficult, and that it was often difficult to get past casting agents.[7] However, the film was delayed after the producers, Thenandal Studio Limited, opted to prioritise the making of other big budget films such as Mersal (2017) and Sangamithra. The production house later ran into financial problems and exited the project.

In February 2018, the project’s production was taken up by Y NOT StudiosAfter the actor and director had finished their other ventures, the film was officially relaunched in August 2019, with the shoot beginning in London during September 2019. James Cosmo was signed on to play a foreign character, while several other cast members including Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Kalaiyarasan and Roman Fiori[10] worked in the London schedule. By mid-September 2019, twenty days of the film had been shot.

Filming started i September in Faversham, Kent a village in the south east of England. The crew filmed for about a week before they set of for their next location.

The film’s soundtrack is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The lyrics are written by Vivek, Dhanush, and Anthony Daasan. The audio rights for the film were secured by the production company’s subsidiary music label, YNOT Music

The film’s title refers to the song “Sambo Siva Sambo”, written by Kannadasan, from the 1979 film Ninaithale Inikkum, starring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

The first look poster was released in February 2020, and was modelled after The Last Supper, a 15th century painting by Leonardo da Vinci.
Jagame Thandhiram was scheduled to hit screens on 1 May 2020, but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic
