Latest Kerala Local News: IPR Seminar at TVM NIIST on July 26 – Mathrubhumi English
Thiruvananthapuram: CSIR-NIIST is organizing an IPR Seminar on July 26, 2023 at its campus as part of the National Intellectual Property Festival, an “IP Campaign” to raise awareness of intellectual property among scientists, students, researchers and other stakeholders. Dr. G. Byju, Director of Central Tuberculosis Research Institute (CTCRI) will open the IPR Seminar at 9:30 am on July 26th. Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan, director of CSIR-NIIST will chair. About 300 delegates are expected at the seminar. The seminar will end at 12:45 p.m.
The National Intellectual Property Festival is organized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and CSIR in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, which coordinates the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations to mark 75 years of independence. CSIR aims to organize at least 75 IP awareness programs under this “National IP Festival” during the month of July 2023 with the support of DSIR, NRDC, DPIIT and Indian Patent Office. The central theme of the “IP campaign” is “Feeding ideas for innovation”.
There will be three technical sessions after the inaugural ceremony. Dr. V Ajit Prabhu, Chief Scientist and Nodal Head of Intellectual Property Rights Information Center, KSCSTE, Shastra Bhavan will deliver the keynote address on “Introduction to IPRs – Feeding Ideas for Innovation”. Dr. P Sethuraman Sivakumar, Principal Scientist and Head of AgriB-usiness Incubator, CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram will speak on “Intellectual Property Development and Commercialization – Case Studies”. Rakesh CR, Patent Agent and Consultant to Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Ltd. (former Patent Examiner, Government of India) will speak on “Introduction to Patent Filing Procedures and Drafting”
