Latest World News: Imran Khan’s drama has made Pakistan the laughingstock of the world: J
US President Joe Biden’s adviser for the arts, Shahid Ahmed Khan, has said America has nothing to do with Pakistan’s domestic politics after US senators wrote a general letter regarding human rights in the country. The letter is about Pakistan and not Imran Khan, he said, adding that the former prime minister’s cipher drama had turned the country into a laughing stock around the world. Pakistan remains a crucial nation for the United States and is not ignored by Washington because of its relationship with China, he said.
If the US senators’ letter was so important, Pakistan would not have received aid from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Shahid Ahmed Khan continued.
Pakistan is spoiling relations with countries and institutions where its interests are linked, he said, saying the IMF was not happy with the country’s local leadership. The IMF was also upset that the agreement reached during the government’s previous term had not been implemented, he said.
US diplomats have not even told the Pakistani government about it and most Pakistanis living in the US are not interested in politics there, he said.
The Cypher controversy is linked to allegations made by Imran Khan, who was ousted by a parliamentary vote in April last year. Imran Khan alleged that Washington orchestrated a plan to remove him from office and held up the figure at a public rally to back up his claims.
Earlier this week, Imran said the reignited encryption controversy was an attempt to disqualify him from running for office in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government.
The PTI leader accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Asif Ali Zardari and others of plotting to remove him from the political arena.
