The world’s biggest sports superstar Lionel Messi is set to continue his career in the US by joining Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami Football Club. To mark the occasion and welcome Messi into the league, Inter Miami are hosting an event called “The Unveil” on Sunday, July 16 at 8:00 pm ET.
According to The Athletic, users who subscribe to the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+ will be able to watch The Unveil in its entirety. At the time of this writing, the MLS section of Apple TV+ does not have any information about The Unveil on either the MLS home screen or the Spotlight on Messi section. Apple did not respond to the confirmation request.
New subscribers can sign up for the MLS Season Pass for $12.99 per month, or $39 for the remainder of the regular season, which runs until October 21st. The regular price for an entire season is $12.99 per month, or $79 per season with Apple. TV+ subscription or $14.99 per month or $99 per season without a subscription.
The MLS regular season will be suspended after play on Saturday, July 15 for League Cup play and will resume on August 20. Messi is expected to make his MLS debut on July 21 against Cruz Azul in the League Cup, which will air on Apple TV+. along with a complete list of League Cup games.
The Athletic also reports that MLS is in talks to have a portion of The Unveil broadcast live on Fox and Univision during the halftime of the CONCACAF Gold Cup final between Panama and Mexico.
While the Inter Miami event announcement does not specifically mention Messi, it is widely believed that Messi is the person the event is named after. The club stated that The Unveil will feature “thrilling entertainment, on-pitch performances and more”. Messi signed with the club in June after spending two years at Paris Saint-Germain in France.
Messi is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, having won a record seven Ballon d’Or awards given to the best player in the world. He won several club championships and led Argentina to the world title in 2022.
