Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Officially playing Broadway for half a decade! To take such a big step, the Tony Award-winning stage production released a – dare we say – Magic trailer celebrating its innovative appeal.

Written by Jack Thorne (who crafted the central story with JK Rowling and John Tiffany), the play revolves around Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy – the children of former Hogwarts rivals Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy – as they use a time turner in an effort to save Cedric Diggory from being murdered at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Talk with Collider in 2020Thorne discussed the writing process for Cursed Child, explaining how he wanted the play to be “about kids not having a very good time at Hogwarts”.

“I hated school,” he continued. “I never found a way to fit in with the other kids. I felt like that was something the Harry Potter books didn’t have much opportunity to explore, and it might be interesting to explore that, that alienation, and might be a useful addition to the canon.”

Chris Columbus, director of Sorcerer’s Stone And Chamber of Secrets has expressed interest while bringing cursed child on the big screen with the original actors, although Daniel Radcliffe didn’t seem very keen on the idea.

The good news, however, is that the magic of the wizarding world will continue into the First time Harry Potter TV shows is coming to HBO Max. Well, technically speaking, it’s just Max now.

Imagined by Warner Bros. Discovery as a 10-year-old saga, the small-screen project is set to re-adapt the seven Potter novels with an all-new cast and creative team (each season will be based on a different book). Rowling is attached as executive producer alongside Neil Blair (fantastic beasts and where to find them) and Ruth Kenley-Letts (Midwich Cuckoo Clocks).
