According to Business Insider’s report, Nolan Church, who worked as a recruiter at Google from 2012 to 2015, says there are two big mistakes to avoid on your resume that are blocking your chances of getting a job with the company. The first is something he calls “brick texts”. This means writing long paragraphs with lots of words but not much meaning. If your resume looks like this, it says there is no way to move forward in the hiring process.

The second important thing is to be concise. This means that you must speak clearly and briefly. If you can’t do that on your resume, it shows that you might be struggling to communicate effectively in the workplace.

To solve these problems, Church suggests using artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT or Grammarly. These tools can clean up your resume and make it more presentable.

Google recently laid off 12,000 employees to save money. This means they could be even more picky about the hiring process and take on fewer new hires. It is therefore essential to make your resume stand out and avoid common mistakes.

Another former Google executive, Laszlo Bock, who spent 20 years at the company, saw more than 20,000 resumes during his time there. He also pointed out some common mistakes. Many resumes had typos, bad formatting, or were way too long. Bock suggests a good rule: one resume page for ten years of work experience. Remember, once you walk into the interview room, the resume doesn’t matter as much. So keep it simple and cut down on unnecessary details.
